You'll Be Tickled Pink by These 30 Flamingo Nail Art Ideas

Whether it's the dead of Winter or halfway through a sweltering Summer, we pretty much have one constant goal: we hope to wind up on a warm yet breezy beach with a daiquiri in hand. Sadly, it's hard to guarantee that a tropical getaway is inked onto our calendars every year. That's why we ensure that at least once every 12 months, we incorporate a flamingo or two into our __nail art. Not only is the social bird practically synonymous with vacation, but its feathery flair lends itself well to festive fingertips. So even if you don't have a flight booked, at least you can dream. Read on to see our favorite flamingo-accented __nail art from Instagram.

20 Rose Quartz Nail Art Ideas That Totally Rock

Though the practice of using healing crystals dates back to ancient Egypt, it is absolutely having a renaissance in 2017. That's why we are obsessed with the gorgeous rose quartz __nail art trend.

Rose quartz is the perfect stone to re-create in manicure form as it supposedly has the power to incite a passion for beauty and creativity (both of which are at play in DIY __nail art!). The crystal is also said to attract and promote feelings of love toward oneself and toward others. Hey, you can never have too many good vibes.

The technique itself is easy enough to master. Pick up a sheer rosy-pink nail polish (we like Essie Poppy Art Pink ($9)) and apply one coat, then doodle on little "veins" like a real crystal might have in shades of white, paler pink, or gold using a striping brush. Top with another coat of sheer pink and repeat until you have created a look you love. You can even spice it up with accent stones or half moons, or just use the manicure as a foundation for another artistic masterpiece. Read on to see our favorite examples from Instagram as well as a brief tutorial.

These Magical NYFW Manicures Took Over 300 Hours to Complete

Every season, we look forward to the __nail art at The Blonds show, not just because of the monumental artistry involved but also for the whimsical inspiration that spurred it all. For Fall 2017, the story behind the collection — and the manicures — was magical, mysterious, and completely mad. According to CND cofounder and style director Jan Arnold, "The story takes place with a young, naive princess who got pushed around and told what to do . . . and became entombed." But brace yourself, it gets cooler. "In the modern day, she was finally released, and when she came out of her tomb, she realized she had to find her power," she said. "Her nails became her talisman." Yes, that's right: the nails at The Blonds were basically healing and energy crystals. But instead of real gems, the __nail techs spent over 300 hours making the sets of nails from scratch. Each talon was hand-sculpted from CND Liquid & Powder and hand-painted to resemble agate stone, geodes, and more. Appropriately, the design team behind The Blonds (David and Phillipe Blond) decided that the manicures would function as the only jewelry worn the models on the runway. "For this show, we actually decided to forego jewelry on the wrists and hands altogether because we really wanted the nails to serve that key purpose," Phillipe noted in a press release. While we can't vouch for the nails having any magical resources (after all, they're not on our fingertips!), the regal designs are absolutely extraordinary. Read on to see them for yourself.

It’s Not the Clothes You Should Look at on the Libertine Runway — It’s the Nail Art

The talented team of __nail techs behind CND seem to never run out of inspiration — or energy. They're known for spending hundreds of hours on intricate designs built out of thin air and acrylic powder. And for this season's Libertine show, they outdid themselves yet again.

According to CND's co-founder and style director Jan Arnold, over 400 hours went into the Fall 2017 designs, and that dedication is mirrored in the fine detail of each nail. (No two models wear the same set!)

This is CND's sixth season working with Libertine and its designer Johnson Hartig. Arnold explained that 50 different nails are initially created before the team settles on the final designs and theme. For this Fall, the nails have a global source of inspiration.

"Johnson [Hartig, Libertine designer] was so inspired by the Romanian Gypsy," explained Arnold. "When you think of the Romanian Gypsy, she was sort of the original upcycler . . . merging clashing fabrics and textures together, and it just works effortlessly." As a result, each model flaunted nails with hand-painted roses as well as embellished talons, including "gypsy chains" which all women wore on one finger.

The needlepoint work of Uzbekistani village women was another influence on the finished look. This prompted "shag rug" nails (which featured threads woven and knotted into the talon, then trimmed) and "Bob Marley" nails (a nod to dreadlock-like fringe). Vivid colors, feathers, and beads added more excitement to each hand.

Read on to see how all these incredible concepts and designs melded into one fabulous manicure at Libertine Fall 2017.
